easily accessible from The Casterbridge. The nearest, Wolfdale, two miles
away at Charminster, offers wide fairways and some challenging hills to
whack the ball up. Lovely views over Dorchester and the surrounding
countryside add to the experience. A handicap is not required.
Three miles in the other direction is Came Down — the course
upon which the first Ryder Cup was planned. From the first tee you can see
Weymouth, Dorchester, glorious countryside and the sea; which may make
searching for a lost ball a little less arduous.
On the coast in Weymouth is a fabulous seaside course; although not a
links course, it provides a good 7,000 yards of golf for all levels.
Within twenty miles are Bulbury Wood, a tight and tricky course
with views over Poole Harbour and the magnificently positioned Isle of
Purbeck courses offering fabulous and exciting golf for all levels of
player.
There are more courses listed and all of them make visitors welcome
usually requiring you to book a tee time, which our reception can help you
with.
